Obituary for Grace Alene Smith

Grace Alene Smith, 100, passed away on May 8, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving sons and daughter.
She was born July 14, 1917, in Lakeview, Michigan, the daughter of the late Laura and George Rentschler. She had 8 siblings.

She was married to the late John Peter Smith in 1947 in Stanton, Michigan. Grace loved to spend time with her family, and always had a smile on her face. Grace said that the happiest time in her life was raising her children. She was a loving and caring person, a devoted wife, mother and friend always thinking of others first. Grace reminds us of the The Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31:27-31. "She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates."

Grace leaves to cherish in loving memory her son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Julie Smith of Stanton MI; daughter and son-in-law, Colene and Dana Snowden of Fenton, MI; son Peter Smith of Edmore, MI; son Raymond Smith of Stanton, MI; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, George and Julia Rentschler Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A private family service will be held May 11, 2018 at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore, Michigan. Burial will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Stanton.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Lakeview Public Library or the American Heart association.
