Obituary for Marion Rae Buchholz

Marion Rae (Hardman) Buchholz, age 81, of Carson City, formerly of Stanton, passed away May 2, 2018, with her family by her side. Marion was born on June 23, 1936, in Day Township, the daughter of Raymond and Marjorie (Ballard) Hardman. She was raised in Day Township and the Crystal area, graduating from Cedar Lake Academy in 1954. On February 28, 1959 she married the love of her life, Otto H. Buchholz, in Vestaburg. Marion continued her education at Ferris State University and Midland graduating 1st in her Licensed Practical Nursing class. Marion loved to write, especially stories and poems. She enjoyed crossword and intelligence puzzles, Readers Digest Vocabulary building lists, reading the bible, helping others and using the computer. She adored cats, and liked scrapbooking. She made special scrapbooks for each of the grandkids. Marion was a life-long member of the Frost Seventh Day Adventist Church.
After Otto cared for her at home many years, Marion spent her last few years at The Laurels of Carson City where Otto visited her daily until his death in December of 2017.
She will be missed by her daughter, Lynda (Scott) North of Stanton; and son, Terrence (Jill) Buchholz of Cleveland, TN; four grand children: Christopher Buchholz, Alec (Elizabeth) North, Nicholas Buchholz, Anya Buchholz; one great granddaughter, Ava “Punky” Buchholz; sister, Phyllis Dennis; sisters-in-law: Patricia Buchholz, Sharon Nielsen, Joyce (Richard) Johnson and Lois Garvey, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Otto Herman Buchholz; one daughter, Debra JoAnn Buchholz; her parents Raymond and Marjorie Hardman; brothers-in-law, Alvin Buchholz, Thorval “Bo” Nielsen and Jim Garvey.
Services for Marion will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore. Visitation with family will be at 2:00 PM until time of Service. A luncheon will be held at the Frost Seventh Day Adventist Church in Stanton immediately following the services.
The family would like to extend our special thanks to the staff at Laurels of Carson for their special care and compassion; and to Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their exemplary care. Another special thank-you to the friends and family who visited, wrote and called Marion throughout the years.
Memorial Contributions may be made the Mid-Michigan Humane Society of Stanton.
